Many patients are unaware that all of the Facial Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery procedures on our website are performed effectively in an outpatient setting under light anesthesia called MAC or twilight sleep or light general anesthesia. Patient Safety if always of the upmost importance in choosing the facility for your cosmetic surgery procedures. When seeing the doctors at the Aston Center,Department of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery for cosmetic surgery and procedurs ,including Dr.Gilmore and Dr.Leach you will become an important patient in the university system (UTSouthwestern Medical Center). You will receive first class care at either the Zale Lipshay Unversity Hospital or the St. Paul University Hospital or Ambulatory Surgery Center for your planned procedures.

Prior to surgery and anesthesia appropriate lab studies and pre anesthesia assessment will be performed under the guidance of the Department of Anesthesia.

Licensed personnel staff our fully equipped surgical suite and recovery room. Local anesthesia and/or sedation (twilight anesthesia) administered by a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (C.R.N.A.) or an Anesthesiologist (M.D.), is used for our Facial Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery procedures under the Department of Anesthesiology Thee patient's vital signs are monitored throughout the procedure(s). The goal of anesthesia is to provide a safe and pleasant surgical experience. For most patients this type of anesthesia affords a more rapid recovery than the traditional and conventional types of deeper general anesthesia

After surgery you are transferred from our surgical suite to a recovery room and monitored until you have met the criteria for a safe discharge. You will be released to the person that you have designated to provide your transportation and aftercare. Patients having surgery are not allowed to drive to the hospital or to drive home by themselves. We encourage you and your caregiver to follow the instructions that were given to you at the time of your visit prior to surgery, as well as, those of the nurses at the time of discharge. We urge you and/or your caregiver to contact the office immediately if there are any problems, or if you are worried or anxious about any phase of your surgery and/or recovery. The staff is well trained and will answer any questions that may arise during this time.
